As our mild,
tropical nights in Florida get cooler and the temperature drops, our fruit releases
chlorophyll from its skin and develops a deep yellow-orange color. To keep our fruit as
natural as possible, we do not add color.
Even though our
fruit is grown in a warm tropical environment, it prefers to be kept cool. If you will
maintain the temperature of our citrus between 45 and 60, our oranges and grapefruit will
stay fresh for weeks. They also have a better flavor when chilled. Don't wrap your fruit
in plastic or place in plastic bags for storage. Just like people, our fruit needs
ventilation.
Even though a certain variety
of fruit is listed for a certain month, if the fruit matured sooner than its normal
availability season, we may have to move on to the next variety that is ready to be
harvested a little earlier than normal. For example, even though we usually harvest
Temples in February and March, sometimes by the end of March they are "over" and
we will start harvesting the Valencias because they are ready to come off of the tree.
When you call to order, we can update you as to availability.
Prices are subject to change
Due to weather conditions,
out of our control, prices could change. For example, a drought, high winds or a freeze
would drive the prices up in the citrus industry.
For added protection...
packed in our standard 2-layer, 2/5 bushel carton.
NOTE: We do not ship to California or Hawaii because these states fumigate all
in-coming citrus.
